Don't let Stranges in the House. 1111 Ruse Burglary
The Barrington Hills Police Department would like to inform you of a ruse burglary that occurred today, Friday November 11th. In this incident, the victim was confronted at her front door by a male black subject in his forties posing as a Village Water Department employee.
Once inside the victim’s home the male black asked the homeowner to monitor the water pressure at her kitchen sink. As the homeowner was distracted, another offender entered the home and searched for small valuables, such as jewelry and cash.
The offender was reported to be driving a white sport utility vehicle. The Police Department cautions all residents to be wary of any unexpected visitors, especially those reporting to be contractors, utility workers, or new neighbors and attempting to draw attention away from the
home. Residents are encouraged to call 911 to report any suspicious activity or for assistance in determining the authenticity of an unknown visitor.
